Three high school linemen in the Gophers’ 2024 recruiting class are part of a prestigious group of prospects invited to play in the All-American Bowl in San Antonio in January. The distinguished group: Kindred, N.D., defensive lineman Riley Sunram; Olathe, Kan., offensive lineman Brett Carroll; and Mukwonago, Wis., offensive lineman Nathan Roy. The U’s list grows to four with Esko, Minn., safety Koi Perich.“It’s a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity,” Sunram told the Pioneer Press. “I’m so grateful for what I have and what I can do. … I understand it’s very hard to get into.”It’s rare for the Gophers to be this well-represented in the showcase event, with East and West rosters combining for only 109 total players nationwide.Last year, two receivers in the 2023 recruiting class — Kenric Lanier and T.J. McWilliams — were selected for the All-American Bowl before their freshman seasons with the Gophers last fall. By PAT GRAHAM (AP Sports Writer)FORT COLLINS, Colo. (AP) — Isaiah Stevens had 18 points to move closer to taking over as the program’s all-time leading scorer and No. 17 Colorado State shook off a sluggish start to roll past Division II CSU-Pueblo 86-54 on Sunday night. The Rams (10-1) returned to the court eight days after a 64-61 home loss to Saint Mary’s. They looked a touch lethargic early on but quickly found their rhythm, using a 20-2 run midway through the first half to break free of CSU-Pueblo.“It wasn’t a work of art,” Colorado State coach Niko Medved said. “But we also did some good things.” Stevens’ smooth shooting moved him 14 points away from breaking the school’s scoring mark on the men’s side held by Pat Durham, who amassed 1,980 points from 1985-89. PORTLAND — Even in in complete frustration over his crunch time benching in Phoenix, Klay Thompson couldn’t ignore the truth: His bad shot choices made him a liability with the game on the line. That day was the first time Thompson sat out for a deciding stretch in the fourth quarter, coach Steve Kerr opting to play rookie Brandin Podziemski in his place. Since then, Thompson has been on a mission to stay off that bench.Heading into Sunday’s game in Portland, Thompson had 54 points over the Warriors’ two games against the Los Angeles Clippers and Brooklyn Nets. He’s 11-for-21 from 3 over that span, not forcing heat checks in transition or chucking early in the shot clock as he was previously. His 30 points in a loss to the Clippers was a season high; he strung together 24 points in a win against the Nets in chorus with a Steph Curry fourth-quarter flurry that turned back the clock to the Splash Brothers heyday. That includes some quintessentially-Klay off...Hayward man dies after car crashes on CA-84 in Newark
