Sayers | CNNThe family of 11-year-old Mississippi boy Aderrien Murry has filed a lawsuit in federal court seeking $5 million after he was shot earlier this month by a police officer who responded to the child’s 911 call for help.The lawsuit was filed by Aderrien’s mother, Nakala Murry, against the City of Indianola, Mississippi, its police chief and several officers, including Greg Capers, who the Indianola Police Department previously confirmed was the officer who shot the child.Capers has not responded to CNN’s requests for comment. OAKLAND — A city resident has been sentenced to 21 years and eight months in prison in a plea deal over a 2018 fatal shooting outside an East Oakland corner store, court records show.Robert Graham, 51, pleaded no contest to voluntary manslaughter in the shooting death of 39-year-old Phillip Pullum. In exchange, prosecutors dropped murder a charge against Graham and a judge sentenced him on May 22. He remains in Santa Rita Jail, pending transfer to the state prison system.Pullum was shot and killed Nov. 27, 2018, on the 3500 block of Davis Street. Prosecutors say that Graham and another man were driving through Oakland in Graham’s girlfriend’s car when they noticed Pullum standing by the trunk of his car. The driver allegedly stopped and Graham got out, confronted Pullum and then pulled out a firearm just six seconds into their argument.
